I get this question asked a lot. People want to know if drinking a green drink is safe. My question back to them is “do you think eating a lot of vegetables are good for you”?

Another way to look at this is that these are your liquid vegetables in a glass. Let’s be honest, most people do not get enough vegetables in to begin with so having a concentrated powder that you can mix into your favorite beverage is only goodness. Drinking 1-3 liters of these drinks every day is only going to help.

Now, with that said, you have to pay attention to the ingredients in whatever green drink you buy. Many green drinks are loaded up with so many unhealthy fillers it’s not even funny. I would pay a lot of attention to the label and ingredients in the product.

Look for organic herbs, grasses, grains, sprouts and vegetables.

My opinion is that you don’t need any sweeteners included in your green drink. This is another filler that a lot of green drink companies put in their mix to make it taste good. I would steer clear of that.

Now, let’s say you have a high-quality green drink. A very concentrated powder. What you will want to do is to start slow on the program. Why? Because there is this thing called detox symptoms.

Detox symptoms come in many forms like nausea, headaches, diarrhea, aches, pains and just an overall feeling of sluggishness. What many people don’t understand is that this is good.

What’s happening is that the toxins are getting thrown out into the blood and this is causing all of the symptoms. In order to minimize this, you start slow on the program.

What does this mean? If the green drink powder comes with directions to put one teaspoon into a liter or quart of water, divide that in half and start with a half a teaspoon. Work your way up to one teaspoon over time. There is no rush here. You could stay at half dosage for a month or two. It’s up to you and how you feel. Let me just repeat again what I said in the above paragraph. If you’re new to drinking green drinks, start slow. Take the recommended dosage and divide it in half. Do this until you feel comfortable and strong, then move up to full dosage or three quarters dosage. You make the call.

Let’s say that you’re doing half dosage and you still feel miserable. What does this mean? First, it means you’re a very toxic person 🙂 and it means that you need to start even slower. For this, do 25% of the recommended dosage. In other words a quarter dosage.

Let me tell you what happened to me. I started drinking green drinks back in 2001. I was your typical American. Eating at a lot of fast food restaurants and eating processed foods from the supermarkets. I also loved a lot of the sugary drinks and coffee.

When I first started drinking green drinks I was miserable. I was constantly going thru and having detox symptoms. Honestly, this went on for 2 to 3 years. You have to look at it this way. At the time I started I was approximately 40 years old. So, for 40 years I lived a certain way and built up a lot of toxicity in my body. When I started to put this good stuff (green drink) in my body the toxins went on the move. This is a good thing.

Where would you rather have the toxins, inside your body or moving out? This is something that had to happen and had to run its course. For me it took years. I would suspect that the same thing will happen to most people that start on a green drink. Once you break through all of this detox you will have a burst of energy every day.

Currently green drinks are a part of my lifestyle and I try to drink 2-3 liters or quarts per day. I get the same energy boost every time I drink one.

Another question I get a lot is whether drinking a green drink is good to do during pregnancy. First let me say that whatever the doctors says goes. Let your doctor know what you’re going to do and even give this person a list of the ingredients. Heed your doctor’s advice.

Now, with that said, this is just my opinion, but drinking a green drink would be the biggest gift you could give your child. The problem is that most people are not ready. In other words, most people are very toxic and acidic and detox symptoms are going to occur. This is not something you want to have happen during pregnancy. If you’re someone that is very health conscious and has been drinking a green drink prior to pregnancy everything should be okay. Again, this is my opinion and you should consult your doctor.

What about children? As with adults, start slow. Again, this is just my opinion, but introducing your kids to green drinks at an early age is one of the best gifts you can give them. Parents love that they can get veggies into their children’s lives by mixing the powder in their favorite drink. I wish I had access to this when I was a kid. Many kids aren’t too excited about broccoli or salads so having the ability to mix up a quick green drink comes in handy.

Here are three things that you can expect to happen when you start drinking a highly concentrated green drink:

  • Digestion will be aided
  • Your immune system will be enhanced
  • You will have endless amounts of energy

For most people this does not happen on day one but just stay focused, make it part of your lifestyle, and you will see the same results as everyone else.

Green drinks are also great for people on the go. Maybe you’re someone with a very hectic lifestyle or maybe you travel a lot. Having the ability to mix up a green drink with some water keeps you focused on your health 365 days a year no matter where you are. In fact these days there are no excuses anymore to stay healthy.

I hope this article gives you a better idea of whether or not green drinks are safe. I think it comes down to the ingredients in the green drink and how quickly you start the program.

Read the labels and check every single ingredient. Make sure there are no fillers. Once you find the right green drink for you start slow on the program. Let your body tell you how things are going. If you feel miserable start even slower. Maybe get off the product for two or three days then start again even slower.

What will happen is that over time you can work up to the recommended dosage. For some people they can do it immediately. For others it may take a year to work up to the recommended dosage. That’s okay. Again let your body tell you how things are going.

So, my opinion is that the right green drink is safe. In fact, not only is it safe but I believe it’s a critical part of anyone’s lifestyle.
